This is the site for people who live (or want to live) in Louisville, and who own or would love to own a pet of any sort. Please come in and look around—there’s plenty to learn here as well as (free screensavers and wallpaper downloads for your computer - coming soon), information and opportunities to get involved if you so desire.
You have been told that Louisville’s new ordinance will remove dangerous dogs from the streets and protect you. What you haven’t been told is that the actual ‘dangerous dog’ provision of the new ordinance is virtually identical to that of the old ordinance, (which they claimed was inadequate!). You haven’t been told that it violates your civil and property rights if you own any pet, or that it contravenes state, federal and constitutional laws in no less than 100 instances, and guarantees every pet owner is moments away from being a criminal and subject to seizure of their animals, fines and jail time for even minor infractions! You also haven’t been allowed to know who was really behind the drive to get this bill passed, and you’ll be amazed to learn the truth of that, as well.
While City Hall would have you believe that we are nothing more than a bunch of wild-eyed zealots attempting to protect our highly privileged purebred pooches to the detriment of everyone else, nothing could be further from the truth. But they don’t want you to know the truth. This is about government trampling the rights of every citizen in Jefferson County, about making criminals of law-abiding people who have done nothing wrong, of turning Louisville into a police state. And make no mistake—that process has already begun.
We are individuals from all walks of life, from Jefferson County and beyond, brought together by our desire to inform the public of the truth of Louisville’s Anti-Pet ordinance, (and against similar laws being proposed in Frankfort), to educate the public about good pet ownership, to raise money to protect the legal rights of every pet owner in Jefferson County against a horrendous law that has people on seven continents monitoring the outcome of our efforts to replace it with a better one.
Not all of us show or trial our animals—many never have. Among our group are horse owners, dog trainers, world-renowned dog & cat breeders, animal judges, veterinarians, owners of boarding kennels, hunters and the owners of household pets. We are a coalition made up of members of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, Kentucky Trial Lawyers’ Association, the Kentucky Equine Education Project, Louisville Kennel Club, the Kentucky League of Sportsmen, the Greater Louisville Training Club, The Responsible Dog Owners of Louisville, The Cat Fanciers of America, the Kentucky Houndsmen and more. Rather than elitists, most of our members are just like you—common working people who happen to have pets. And lots of experience in loving, training, and caring for them.
